It'll get kind of really dusty, since I need to drill a hole on the wall for the pipe. [puts down what he's holding for the sake of this] I think we should put some things out in the hallway and cover what furniture we can't move with plastic or bedsheets. It'll make cleaning easier.

[There, Makoto(-san), all laid out and ready for you. Furuya's actually giving him his full attention: this is what happens when you have the world's best carrot on offer. You can even get him to help.]

Bedsheets... ok.

[He heads out because while he and Isashiki-senpai don't have very much yet, Veronica-san and Takasu (or... Veronica-san anyway, he's still not sure what's up there) have multiple sets, and they're bigger. Furuya returns with a couple of large flat bedsheets.]

Should we put them over the bed?

Yeah! That works perfectly!

[makoto puts the box that contained the a/c unit outside in the hallway and turns to furuya momentarily]

I'll go get the filter unit in the car and set it outside. Would you mind getting this place ready in the meantime, Furuya-kun?

[Furuya nods and stands a little straighter. Yes, he can do this.

All the most important items will be moved outside, so his own pillow and the stuffed polar bear. Isashiki-senpai's manga will all be tucked under his covers, and Furuya will drape the sheets around near the window to make sure the rest is protected. As an afterthought, he opens the window and leans out, looking for Makoto.]

[after nearly an hour of working on installing the a/c unit, drilling a hole in the wall for the tube, and connecting all necessary parts with each other, makoto's quite certain they're done. he even helps out with cleaning the room, removing the sheets and being careful of any dust that might fall on the beds; he sweeps the floors, mops them, and passes a wet towel over any exposed surface.]

[thankfully pillows, sheets, and stuffed polar bear are intact.]

[after all this hard work, he hands over the a/c unit controller to furuya]

Alright, turn it on, Furuya-kun. Let's see if it works!

[Furuya largely observes this process since Makoto seems to know what he's doing and Furuya doesn't want to get in the way (or work any harder than he has to) but he's all about helping with the clean up after. He's especially attentive to anything that gets on Isashiki-senpai's side of the room since he's fond of living.

Finally, he gets the controller and, after a moment, turns the unit on. It hums to life, producing a breeze of cool air that gradually starts to get colder. Behold his quiet delight, Makoto.]

Hm! Looks like it.

[hands on his waist, makoto waits as the air cools a bit more--until it is pretty cold. it's on 23C, and that already is pretty cold compared to the outside.]

Since it's right over your bed, it'll hit your feet or face when you lie down.

[It's plenty cold for Furuya, who may be closing his eyes and just kind of... basking in it. Glorious, frigid air. (Even if it's not that frigid.) He perks up again when Makoto mentions how it'll work out for sleeping.

I might have to turn around. Sometimes the cold air makes my neck stiff.

[Or he could turn it off.




Yeah he's going to turn his whole sleeping arrangement around.]

[is that what he's worried about? what a funny guy, this furuya. makoto laughs into a fist--not impolite or sardonic in his gesture, but rather genuinely amused.]

Sounds like a plan.

[and this is the part where makoto starts packing things up into his bag. he's done his job here, he's glad furuya isn't melting anymore.]

[Taking care of your muscles is important when you're an ace. He doesn't mind the laughter, though; it reminds him of how Miyuki-senpai sometimes laughs, but nicer.

He soaks up a little bit more of the chill, then turns to Makoto before he goes.]

If anything goes wrong, can I call you? I don't know if I could fix it.

Of course you can! I'm really not an expert, but I've found it's not that difficult either. Make sure you keep it off when you're not home, though. Oh, and the filters have to be cleaned at least once a month.

[stands, bag over his shoulder]

I could come back in a month and show you how they're cleaned. It's not complicated at all. Not with this unit, anyway.

[staminaroll]

[He may not be an expert but he knows more than Furuya. Makoto's officially gained like five levels of cool in Furuya's eyes today. He nods about the filters.]

That would be helpful.

[And, perhaps a little abruptly, a deep bow.]

I'm glad to have been of help! Still, remember that air conditioner makes a room dry as well, so keep hydrated.
